HRera clears backlog, disposes all cases till 2024

Gurgaon: Haryana Real Estate Regulatory Authority has cleared all pending complaints up to 2024, wiping out a backlog of 2,174 cases pending before the Authority as on March 31, 2025.In an official statement, RERA Gurgaon said relief under Section 18 of the RERA Act, including refunds and delayed possession charges (DPC), was granted based on the merits of individual cases.Comparative data from the ministry of housing and urban affairs' RERA tracker indicates that while Gurgaon ranks third in terms of total complaints registered, it leads the country in disposal efficiency. RERA Gurgaon has registered 17,893 complaints and disposed of 16,753 — translating to a disposal rate of 93.62%.Currently, it takes around 12 to 15 months to resolve complaints. However, officials said the goal is to reduce this timeline to six to nine months in the near future.Data shared by the Authority shows that in the calendar year 2025 alone, it adjudicated 5,024 complaints, awarding refunds or compensation to aggrieved homebuyers wherever applicable.In comparison, Uttar Pradesh RERA has disposed of 52,047 out of 60,021 complaints (86.71%), Maharashtra RERA 28,289 out of 34,485 (82.03%), and Karnataka RERA 10,522 out of 12,904 (81.54%).
Officials said the high disposal rate underscores Gurgaon RERA's focus on timely and effective grievance redressal. “The Authority is committed to reducing pendency and ensuring faster relief to homebuyers,” the statement said.With the backlog now cleared, RERA Gurgaon aims to streamline processes further and strengthen its position as one of the most efficient regulatory bodies in the country for real estate dispute resolution.
